This is a terrific starting point for students of American fiction - from the early architects of US thought and letters such as Benjamin Franklin, through Jack London, Scott Fitzgerald and bang up to date with the likes of Michael Crichton and John Winslow Irving.

Banned Books Online   There is not a lot in the way of sexually salacious material here. This site offers more of a look into the sometimes odd minds of our governments and rulers than those of the porn trade. Ulysses was of course banned.  More recent embargoes have descended on Little Red Riding Hood believe it or not.

Bloomsbury Magazine    This site aims to take the pain out of the process of setting up a reading group, and it provides a good base on which to build. It contains tips on how to choose titles and frame discussions. It covers how to find a group; how to start your own; organising meetings; leading discussions; choosing books etc.
